My Tea Plant Is in Bloom!

I planted this tiny tea plant in mid-June—just three months ago—and it has already started to bloom!

I imagine tea farmers probably don’t let their tea plants flower, as they want the plants to put their energy into producing new leaves. But I had been looking forward to seeing the blossoms, too, so I was delighted when I spotted a small white one in the rain.

The flowers hang downward, so when I looked at it from above, it looked almost like a little marshmallow. But when I peeked underneath, there it was—a proper little camellia-like blossom. So cute!

There are lots of buds, too, so I think more flowers will be opening one after another. I can’t wait to see them.

But… I still want to harvest some tea leaves next spring!
