A Private Calligraphy and Tea Ceremony Experience in Tokyo

We recently welcomed a lovely couple to our traditional Japanese house in Tokyo, where they joined us for both a calligraphy and tea ceremony experience.

During the calligraphy session, they created their own hanging scrolls — each piece entirely one of a kind. Seeing them hold their completed works in front of our red wagasa umbrella was a truly special moment. Two unique expressions, created side by side.

In the tea ceremony, they also prepared matcha themselves. As they lifted the tea bowls, they smiled and said “delicious” many times, which sincerely warmed my heart. Watching guests discover the fresh, vibrant taste of properly whisked matcha is always a joyful part of this cultural experience.

Sharing traditional Japanese culture together often becomes a meaningful memory — something gentle, quiet, and lasting.
