Calligraphy and Smartphone Filmmaking

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming Takechi, a smartphone video instructor, to our salon for a special calligraphy filming session.

On a cold winter day, our space was filled with warm creative energy. Participants captured the live performance of calligrapher Fugaku Watanabe, who is known not only in Japan but also for having coached Hollywood actor Brad Pitt.

As Fugaku demonstrated his art—responding quickly and precisely to Takechi’s requests—everyone carefully filmed each movement of the brush: the rhythm, the pauses, and the beautiful strokes that bring calligraphy to life. I am extremely grateful to Takechi for giving me the opportunity to meet this wonderful calligrapher at our salon, and I was thrilled to experience Fugaku’s calligraphy up close—an opportunity that truly felt rare and special.

I was also happy to assist in a small way as the salon manager, helping ensure the day ran smoothly.
The recorded footage is now being edited by Takechi, and we are very much looking forward to seeing the finished video.

We would like to extend our sincere thanks to everyone who visited us and made this day so memorable.
