A Lovely Guest and the Kanji for “Sincerity”

We welcomed a wonderful guest who tried calligraphy the other day, and she chose to write the kanji 「誠」 — sincerity.

She gives her very best every single day in her work, and that sincerity truly appeared in every stroke of her brush.

She had studied calligraphy before, and her rhythm with the brush was so impressive—
a beautiful balance of strength and softness. She humbly said she wasn’t completely satisfied with her piece, but to me, it was absolutely worthy of being displayed
in the tokonoma alcove of our salon.

Her modest heart and honest character were deeply moving.

If you would like to enjoy calligraphy and tea ceremony in a private Japanese home here in Tokyo, we would be delighted to welcome you.
