Calligraphy and Tea Ceremony Experience – A Memorable Cultural Journey
We had lovely guests today who joined our Calligraphy and Tea Ceremony experience.
After enjoying Shodo (the art of Japanese calligraphy), they moved on to Sado (the tea ceremony), where traditional Japanese sweets and freshly whisked matcha awaited.
I was happy to hear that they found the ink-grinding part of the calligraphy experience fun — it’s a quiet and meditative moment that many guests enjoy.
They also told me they want to continue practicing Shodo after returning home. That made me so happy!
During the tea ceremony, they understood the custom of turning the matcha bowl to avoid drinking from the front — a beautiful gesture of respect in Japanese tradition. It was wonderful to see them take in the cultural details with such care and interest.
Thank you so much for spending time with us. We hope this experience will remain a warm memory from your trip to Japan.
