Matcha, Smiles, and Calligraphy with a Lovely Couple

A lovely couple visited us and enjoyed both tea and calligraphy in our cozy Japanese house in Ikenoue. They both chose matcha latte—one had an iced one, and the other enjoyed it hot. As the matcha was whisked in front of them, the gentle aroma filled the air, creating a calm and relaxing afternoon.

They also challenged themselves with calligraphy, creating one shared artwork together. Inside the circle of a Korean character, they drew a cheerful smiley face, turning the piece into something both unique and adorable. The photo captures them proudly presenting their collaborative artwork.

They told us that calligraphy is also taught in schools in Korea. We warmly look forward to welcoming them again—perhaps next time with their family—so they can enjoy Japanese tea together once more.
