Kids’ Treasure Hunting @ Ikenoue

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming local elementary and high school students to our salon as part of Kids’ Treasure Hunting @ Ikenoue, a community-building event that encourages our neighborhood.

We began by explaining the flow of a traditional calligraphy experience, followed by a tea ceremony where the students enjoyed traditional sweets and freshly whisked matcha. Some found the matcha delicious, while others thought it was a little bitter — but everyone agreed the sweets were a hit!

The students also interviewed me, asking: “What do you think are the best things about Ikenoue?” Their curiosity and enthusiasm filled the salon with warm energy.

It was a cheerful and lively morning, and after closing, we cleared the hot water from the tea pot, feeling grateful for the memories we had just shared.
Thank you to all the children, mentors, and organizers for making this special day possible.
