A Heartfelt Visit from Canada

We had the pleasure of welcoming wonderful guests from Canada the other day.

For their calligraphy experience, they chose four kanji characters — 「夢」(dream), 「愛」(love), 「勝」(victory), and 「茶」(tea). Each character reflected a personal wish or emotion, and it was beautiful to see how much care and thought went into every brushstroke. Our guest practiced patiently, adjusting the balance and flow until the writing truly felt “just right.”

In the peaceful atmosphere of our tatami room, surrounded by the scent of ink and soft twilight of autumn, the focused rhythm of the brush created a calm and meditative mood.

After completing their works, we shared a traditional tea ceremony. They enjoyed wagashi sweets and freshly whisked matcha while watching the graceful, deliberate movements of the host — a moment of quiet connection through culture.

Our salon is located just a few minutes from Shibuya, yet it offers a glimpse into the heart of a traditional Japanese home. The space is reserved privately for each guest, allowing them to relax and experience the genuine warmth of home.

We are deeply grateful to our guest for spending such meaningful time with us. May the memory of this day — and the kanji they wrote with such spirit — remain a special part of their journey in Japan.
