A Special Visit from Germany
Today, we had the pleasure of welcoming a lovely mother and daughter visiting from Germany.
They chose two kanji characters for their calligraphy experience: 「真」(truth) and 「魂」(soul). Both are elegantly expressed with smooth lines and soft blurs.
In our serene shoin-style tatami room, they wore light jinbei jackets and practiced shodō (Japanese calligraphy) using brush and ink. It was a delight to see them proudly present their calligraphy — we were genuinely happy that they enjoyed the experience so much.
While waiting for the ink to dry, they enjoyed a real tea ceremony, watching the careful movements of the host and savoring Japanese sweets with freshly prepared matcha.
Unlike tourist facilities, our experiences take place in a lived-in Japanese home with a traditional irori hearth, just 4 minutes from Shibuya. The salon space is reserved privately, allowing guests to feel the warmth of a real Japanese house and immerse themselves in authentic culture.
We are grateful to our wonderful guests for choosing to spend their time with us, and we hope this experience will remain a special memory of their journey in Japan.
