Tokyo Calligraphy Moments
Thank you to all travelers for visiting Tokyo, even in this summer heat!
If you love art, why not create your own during your trip?
Japanese calligraphy (Shodo) is a unique art form where you write beautiful Japanese characters using a brush and ink on white paper.
What would you like to write?
“夢 (Dream)”? “愛 (Love)”? “幸 (Happiness)”?
Or perhaps “日本 (Japan)” or “東京 (Tokyo)” to remember your trip?
Our salon is a rare traditional Japanese house in central Tokyo, complete with an irori (a traditional sunken hearth).
Even many Japanese people say, “This reminds me of my grandma’s countryside home,” just like me.
You’ll wear a jinbei, a type of traditional Japanese clothing, and step into the shoes of a calligrapher in a serene, beautifully preserved tatami room.
Our guide will support you carefully in both English and Japanese, so beginners are more than welcome.
Take a deep breath, focus your brush… and you’ll create a one-of-a-kind work of art that’s yours alone.
We also provide a special mount to display your calligraphy at home—your artwork becomes a lasting memory of your journey.
By practicing a single character multiple times, even first-timers can get familiar with Japanese writing.
After your trip, you might even be able to write your own kanji with confidence—at school, in the workplace, or as a gift to friends.
Our salon is conveniently located just 4 minutes from Shibuya on a local train. A short 2-minute walk from Ikenoue Station.
We’ve welcomed guests from over 15 countries.
Whether you’re a returning visitor or it’s your first time, we look forward to seeing you!
