A Hot Day and Unexpected Visitors

Today in Tokyo, the temperature exceeded 30°C (86°F), and it suddenly turned hot and humid.

Looking at the weather forecast for the next two weeks, it seems the temperature will continue to surpass 30°C every day, with no sign of rain.

On such a hot day, we had some unexpected but delightful visitors at our salon—three adorable baby ducks!

Since this morning, I had been hearing bird calls and wondering, “What kind of bird could that be?” I kept looking up at the trees and rooftops.

Then, just after noon, I spotted the three ducklings waddling around our small gravel garden together.
When they noticed people nearby, they quickly hid from view.
I’m sorry I couldn’t show you how cute they looked, but a kind customer told me that the mother duck flew in and walked away with them. That was a relief to hear.

Tokyo is now headed straight into the grueling heat of summer.
To all travelers: please pay attention not just to the temperature, but also to the humidity.
High humidity can make it feel even hotter than it is.
Tokyo summers are, in a word, intense.
