Ume Started Blooming in Tokyo

In Tokyo, the ume blossoms have begun to bloom. During this time of year, when there is little greenery or flowers, the ume blossoms gently signal the arrival of spring. Their fragrance is truly delightful.

If you catch a faint, sweet scent while walking through the city, take a moment to look around—you might spot beautiful ume blossoms in someone’s garden or a nearby park. The red, pink, and white flowers resemble cherry blossoms, blooming directly from the branches before the leaves appear.
