New Year’s Calligraphy

We’ve started preparing for our Kakizome event for the New Year! In Japan, Kakizome—meaning “first writing”—is often assigned to children as winter holiday homework, where they write New Year’s resolutions or practice beautiful handwriting to start the year. It’s a meaningful tradition that encourages them to put their goals on paper, sharing these with their families.

For adults, too, in today’s digital age, it’s a wonderful opportunity to hold a brush, focus on each stroke, and write out personal goals for the year. It’s a way to change our mind and move forward as we enter a new beginning. We hope this event will offer adults the chance to experience their first calligraphy of the year in our setting beautifully suited to our New Year traditions.

We’re looking forward to sharing more details about this special event soon, so please stay tuned!
