Welcoming May with a New Hanging Scroll

As we step into the vibrant month of May, we’ve changed our seasonal hanging scroll to reflect both the energy of the coming season and a gentle sense of missing for the passing spring. It is a beautiful waka poem composed by Minamoto no Sanetomo—a Shogun known for his poetic talent, who died young:

“Tamamo karu
Ide no shigarami
Haru kakete
Saku ya yakawase no
Yamabuki no hana”

This classic waka evokes the image of bright yellow yamabuki blossoms drifting on a river weir. The poem conjures a sense of cool, flowing water—refreshing and serene, especially as the sunlight begins to grow stronger.

We invite you to visit us and enjoy not only our drinks, but also the seasonal ambiance inspired by this poetic moment.
