Although it has been nearly twenty years since I was his student, this was already his third visit to our salon, which has been open for just a little over a year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Before opening this place, I spent a year working part-time in his laboratory. And even before that, when I was living in Nagoya, he stopped by to see my young son, bringing a teddy bear with him while he was in the city for an academic conference. His quiet kindness has stayed with me ever since.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Even though he continues to teach new students year after year, he remembers his former students with remarkable clarity, down to the smallest details. I truly admire that \u2014 though I can\u2019t help hoping he might forget a few things, especially my less-than-perfect grades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>During this visit, he picked up the brush and wrote the character \u6c38 meaning eternity, which is one of the most popular kanji at our salon.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Our calligraphy and tea ceremony experiences take place in a real Japanese home in <em>Ikenoue<\/em>, a quiet neighborhood just four minutes by local train from Shibuya.
