{"id":5048,"date":"2025-09-01T14:49:55","date_gmt":"2025-09-01T05:49:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/oh-mama.tokyo\/?p=5048"},"modified":"2025-09-09T14:52:02","modified_gmt":"2025-09-09T05:52:02","slug":"the-art-of-the-tokonoma","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/oh-mama.tokyo\/?p=5048","title":{"rendered":"The Art of the Tokonoma"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Even though it\u2019s September, today\u2019s temperature rose above 40\u00b0C outside our salon!<br>Still, September is considered autumn in Japan, so we changed the hanging scroll (<em>kakejiku<\/em>) in our <em>tokonoma<\/em> to a seasonal one:<br>\u300c\u4e00\u7c3e\u79cb\u6708 (<em>Ichiren no Shugetsu<\/em>)\u300d \u2014 The autumn moon glimpsed through a bamboo blind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u2728 A small cultural tip for visitors:<br>The <em>tokonoma<\/em> is a sacred space for art and seasonal displays. Please do not place luggage or step inside.
