Both men and women wear yukata. The word is written as 浴衣 in Japanese, which literally means “bathing clothes.”

If you stay at a traditional Japanese inn called a ryokan, you will often be provided with a yukata to use as pajamas.

When putting on a yukata, the important point is to wrap it so that your right hand can slip inside the front opening. To do this, first wrap the right side of the garment over your body, and then place the left side on top. The overlap creates a pocket-like space where you can tuck in a handkerchief or other light items.

For left-handed people, this pocket may feel a little inconvenient—but please be careful not to reverse the sides. Wearing it the opposite way is only for the deceased in Japan.

At our salon, the manager always welcomes guests in traditional Japanese attire. We look forward to seeing you and sharing the charm of Japanese culture with you.

See our Services

[20

post-5037","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-our-customers
["GET
